Oregon Hop Festival Returns to Woodburn Celebrating 125 Years of Crosby Hop Farm

The highly anticipated Oregon Hop Festival is set to return to the TopWire Hop Project in Woodburn, Oregon, on September 6th and 7th, 2025. This year’s event promises to be a significant celebration, not only for its focus on Oregon’s vibrant hop harvest and craft beer scene but also as it marks the 125th anniversary of the historic Crosby Hop Farm, the home of TopWire Hop Project and a cornerstone of the Pacific Northwest’s hop industry.

A Celebration of Oregon’s Hop Heritage

The Oregon Hop Festival, now in its second year, has expanded to two full days to accommodate the growing enthusiasm for this unique event. It offers a comprehensive experience that delves into the journey of hops from field to pint. Attendees will have the opportunity to participate in guided tractor tours through the lush hop fields, gaining firsthand insight into the peak of Oregon’s hop harvest. Behind-the-scenes access to the farm’s processing facilities will also be provided, offering a rare glimpse into the intricate operations that bring these vital ingredients to brewers.

Oregon has a deep-rooted history in hop production, with the Willamette Valley being a prime region for cultivation due to its ideal climate and soil. Historically, Oregon led the world in hop production in the early 20th century, with areas like Independence once known as the “Hop Center of the World.” Today, Oregon proudly holds the position of the second-largest hop-producing state in the U.S., contributing significantly to the nation’s craft beer industry. The state’s hop industry is valued at approximately $34 million, with growers producing millions of pounds of hops annually. This festival serves as a vital platform to celebrate this rich agricultural heritage and its direct impact on the thriving craft beer culture in Oregon, often referred to as “Beervana”.

Honoring 125 Years of Crosby Hop Farm

This year’s festival carries added significance as it coincides with the 125th anniversary of Crosby Hop Farm. Founded in 1900, this fifth-generation family farm has been instrumental in the region’s hop cultivation. Blake Crosby, Founder and CEO of TopWire Hop Project and Crosby Hop Farm, expressed his excitement: “This year is especially meaningful as we celebrate 125 years of hop farming at Crosby. We’re honored to share this milestone with our community, friends, and fellow beer lovers—right here on the land where it all began”. The festival provides a unique setting for this commemoration, celebrating over a century of dedication to hop farming and innovation.

An Immersive Beer and Harvest Experience

The Oregon Hop Festival is designed to engage all the senses. A key attraction is the hop sensory station, where attendees can interact with freshly picked hops, learn about their diverse aromatic profiles, and even participate in a pairing competition. This feature allows visitors to understand the complex characteristics that hops impart to beer, from floral and citrus notes to piney and earthy undertones.

Craft beer enthusiasts will have the opportunity to sample a curated selection of over 20 top craft breweries, with a strong emphasis on hop-forward brews. Two exclusive collaboration beers have been crafted to commemorate Crosby Hop Farm’s anniversary: a TopWire West Coast IPA brewed with CGX® NUVO™ Centennial hops, and a special Deschutes Brewery 125th Anniversary Ale. Deschutes Brewery, a prominent Oregon-based brewery, is a significant player in the state’s beer scene.

Beyond the beer, the festival will feature live music from regional artists performing folk, bluegrass, country, and Americana genres. A variety of local food vendors, including Lively Station, Curry Bai, Real Mexican, and Spice of Africa, will be on hand to offer culinary delights. Family-friendly activities, such as games and tractor rides, ensure that the event is enjoyable for all ages, and leashed pets are also welcome.
