Montavilla Brew Works Marks a Decade: Portland Neighborhood Staple Celebrates 10 Years

PORTLAND, OR – Montavilla Brew Works, a cornerstone of Southeast Portland’s craft beer landscape known for its dedication to classic brewing principles, is set to commemorate a significant milestone: its tenth anniversary.

Established within the distinctive confines of a former auto mechanic garage at the intersection of 78th and Stark Street in the heart of the Montavilla neighborhood, the 10-barrel brewhouse has carved out a reputation as an “old school” neighborhood brewery. Founder Michael Kora has notably steered the establishment through its first decade while largely adhering to its original business model, emphasizing community connection and quality craftsmanship over rapid expansion.

Celebrating a Decade of Brewing

To mark this momentous occasion, Montavilla Brew Works is hosting a public anniversary party on Saturday, July 12th, 2025. The celebration is scheduled to run from 12 pm to 9 pm at the brewery’s familiar location: 7805 SE Stark St, Portland, OR 97215.

The event is planned as an all-ages affair, welcoming families and individuals alike. In keeping with its neighborhood-focused ethos, the brewery will feature a dog-friendly patio area, ensuring four-legged companions can join in the festivities. Small activities are also planned to entertain younger attendees.

Food, Music, and Special Brews

Guests can anticipate a lively atmosphere fueled by local flavors and sounds. Ro’s City BBQ will be on-site starting at 3 pm, offering their popular culinary creations. Providing the soundtrack for the afternoon and evening, DJ MD is scheduled to spin vinyl records from 3 pm to 9 pm.

A highlight of the anniversary celebration is the release of a special collaboration beer. This unique brew was crafted alongside a collective of talented Michigan-born brewers representing prominent Pacific Northwest breweries: Assembly, Breakside, Oregon City, Ruse, and Upright Brewing. Utilizing ingredients sourced specifically from Michigan, the collaboration beer is expected to offer a distinct flavor profile, paying homage to shared roots while celebrating Portland’s vibrant craft beer community.

Attendees will have the opportunity to purchase commemorative 10th anniversary glassware as a memento of the milestone. The event will also feature raffles and giveaways throughout the day, adding an element of excitement for patrons.

A Neighborhood Institution

Montavilla Brew Works’ ten-year tenure reflects not only the resilience of its business model but also its deep integration into the fabric of the Montavilla neighborhood. The brewery’s commitment to remaining a focused, community-oriented establishment, housed in its iconic former garage setting, distinguishes it within Portland’s competitive craft beer scene. Kora’s consistent approach over the past decade has fostered a loyal customer base drawn to the brewery’s reliable quality and welcoming atmosphere.

The anniversary celebration on July 12th, 2025, serves as both a retrospective on ten years of brewing history and a look forward to the continued presence of Montavilla Brew Works as a beloved local institution in Southeast Portland. The event provides an opportunity for the community to gather, celebrate, and acknowledge the brewery’s enduring contribution to the area.
