Oregon’s vibrant craft beverage industry has once again demonstrated its national and international prowess, with breweries and cideries securing a remarkable haul of 33 medals at the prestigious 2025 World Beer Cup and numerous accolades at the 2025 Oregon Beer Awards. The 2025 World Beer Cup, often dubbed “The Olympics of Beer Competitions,” saw Oregon breweries and cideries earn a combined 33 medals, solidifying the state’s reputation as a craft beverage powerhouse. Oregon breweries clinched 26 beer medals, while cideries impressively secured 9 awards in the competition’s inaugural year for cider entries.

Leading the charge for Oregon breweries at the World Beer Cup was Breakside Brewery, which garnered an impressive six medals. Their achievements included three gold medals for “Hello My Alien” (Australian-Style Pale Ale), “Cheat Codes” (American-Style Black Ale or American-Style Stout), and “Spring Day” (American-Belgo-Style Ale), alongside two silver medals and one bronze.

pFriem Family Brewers also delivered a stellar performance, earning three medals: two gold for their “Hazy IPA” (Juicy or Hazy Strong Pale Ale) and “Cold IPA” (Hoppy Lager), and one silver for their “Pale” (International Pale Ale). Deschutes Brewery contributed significantly with a gold medal for “Hachamitsu Mai” (Honey Beer), a silver for “Kirkland Signature Helles Lager” (Munich-Style Helles), and a bronze for “Sensationator” (Wood and Barrel-Aged Beer).

Other notable Oregon brewery medalists at the World Beer Cup included Sunriver Brewing Co. with a gold for “Fuzztail” (American Wheat Beer), Von Ebert Brewing taking gold for “Clubhaus Lager” (American Light Lager), and ColdFire Brewing earning a silver for “American Stout” and a bronze for “Saison Lily”. Portland Cider Co. claimed a gold for “Original Gold” (No/Low-Tannin Cider) and a silver for “English Pub” (Tannic Cider). Bauman’s Cider also earned a bronze for “Kingston Black” (Tannic Cider).

pFriem Family Brewers had a banner night, being named Large Brewery of the Year and earning seven medals overall. Among their wins were gold medals for their “Pale” (Sessionable Hoppy Beers), “IPA” (American IPA), and “Pilsner”. Oregon City Brewing Co. was also a significant recipient of awards, including a gold medal for “10° of Kevin Bacon” in the Light German and European Lagers category, alongside multiple bronze awards.

Calapooia Brewing Co. received a gold medal for their “Chili Beer”. Breakside Brewery continued its strong showing, earning a silver medal for “Breakside Bayside IPA” in the highly competitive West Coast IPA category. Grand Fir Brewing secured gold medals for “Lichen” (American IPA) and “Gastropod” (Imperial India Pale Ale). Fort George Brewery took home gold for “3way IPA” (Hazy or Juicy IPA) and was recognized with the Best Brewpub Experience award.
